Here are the steps to adjust the frequency of checking email in Outlook and Thunderbird:

Outlook:

  1. Click on File in the Ribbon interface.
  2. Select Options from the sidebar.
  3. In the Options screen, make sure you are on the Advanced tab.
  4. Under the Send and Receive category (you may need to scroll down), click on the Send/Receive… button.
  5. Ensure that Schedule an automatic send/receive every [X] minutes is checked in the window that appears.
  6. Adjust the minutes by typing a number into the box next to “minutes” or by clicking on the up or down arrow in that same box.
  7. Click Close to close the send/receive options window, then click OK to close the Outlook Options window.

Now, Outlook will automatically attempt to send or receive mail as often as you have specified.

Thunderbird:

  1. Right-click on the account you wish to change.
  2. Choose Properties from the drop-down menu to access Account Settings.
  3. Click on Server Settings.
  4. Make sure “Check for new messages every XX minutes” is checked.
  5. Enter the desired frequency in minutes in the provided box.

Feel free to adjust these settings according to your preferences
